Less lynx killed

Less lynx were killed in the hunting year 2003/04 than in the year before. Totally a number of 46 animals were reported shot or had died of other causes, compared with 71 the previous hunting year. The decline in the number of felled lynx is mostly due to lower felling quota.

Roe deer, moose and red deer killed by car or train. 1990/91-2003/04

For the 2003/04 hunting year, hunting licences for 50 lynx were issued, and altogether 36 animals were felled. Most lynx were felled in Hedmark county, where nine animals were shot.

Wolverines

Most of the wolverines were shot in connection with licensed hunting. A total of 49 licenses for felling wolverines were issued, and 27 animals were shot. Most wolverines were felled in Nordland county, where the whole quota of seven animals were taken.

More bear were killed

Four bears were shot, which is an increase of tree animals from the previous hunting year. Two of these were felled as noxious and two were felled in self - defence. A total of six wolves were reported killed in the hunting year 2003/04.

Birds of prey

Last hunting year 44 goshawks, 26 white-tailed eagles and eight golden eagles were reported dead. In general, all reductions should be reported, but for various reasons this is not always done. Especially the data for birds of prey can be viewed as minimum numbers.
