Increasing number of enterprises

The number of enterprises has increased steadily from 2001. One out of three enterprises are in the industrial group "business activity". In addition, the number of employed persons in the enterprises was higher at 1 January 2005 than one year ago. A large amount of new enterprises were established in 2004.

New established enterprises in the information sector. 2001-2004

Enterprises per 1st January 2001-2004, by economic activity

Statistics from the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises confirm this development. The figures include all enterprises except public administration, agriculture, forestry and fishing. The data from 1 January 2004 have been updated since the previous publishing, and are now available. The number of wound up enterprises for 2003 has also been updated. Due to some lag in registration, the number of winding ups for 2004 has not been updated. Thus the figure as at 1 January 2005 is temporary, but will be updated in the next publishing. Please refer to About the Statistics for more details.
