Women in majority
47 000 courses with 633 000 participants were organized by popular education organizations in 2004. Women made up 55 per cent of all participants. In total, 42 000 participants were offered a public examination or other valid exam or certificate, 48 per cent were women.
The number of courses organized by popular education organizations decreased during the last years. The number of courses decreased by 13 400, 34 000 fewer participants and 247 000 fewer tuition periods in 2004 compared with the 2000.
