10.7 primary applicants per student place at Norwegian School of Veterinary Science

In autumn 2012, just under 110 000 primary applicants applied for 47 100 student places, i.e. 2.3 applicants per student place.

The highest number of primary applicants per student place was at the Norwegian School of Veterinary Science, with as much as 10.7, followed by the Oslo School of Architecture and Design with 10.2. The lowest number of primary applicants per student place was at Sami University College, with 0.4 primary applicants per student place.

Increase in students completing education in standard time

Sixty-three per cent of students who completed a higher degree completed it during the standard time period, which was an increase of 5 per cent from 2011, and an increase of more than 26 per cent from 2004. The corresponding figure for completion of lower degrees was 67 per cent, which is an increase of 3 per cent from 2011.

Operating expenditures vary

Sami University College continued to have the highest expenses, with NOK 630 000 per 60 credit points. Lillehammer University College had the lowest expenditure, with around NOK 85 500. The subjects offered vary from institution to institution, which means that the figures are not always directly comparable.

Almost three in ten have a tertiary education

Almost 30 per cent of the population in the age group 16 and above have a tertiary education. The highest share with this level of education is among the age group 30-39 years, with 46 per cent.

Number of contracted FTEs excluding long-term leave is about the same as last year

The number of contracted FTEs adjusted for long-term leave in public tertiary education was 31 000 in 2012, which is about the same as in 2011. The greatest reductions from 2011 to 2012 were at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the University of Tromsø, with 191 and 31 fewer FTEs respectively. Oslo and Akershus University College and the Norwegian Police University College had the largest increases, with 61 and 43 more FTEs respectively.
