Negative saving

Saving was negative in households and non-profit institutions according to institutional sector accounts for the third quarter of 2006.

Compared to the third quarter of 2005, disposable income increased by 2 per cent in the third quarter of 2006. A rise in wage income by 8 per cent was offset by reduced dividends and raised taxes.

Stronger growth in final consumption expenditures resulted in negative saving and an estimated savings ratio of - 2.2 per cent. Net lending is thus also estimated negative at NOK - 18 billion.
