Increased timber sales and falling prices

A total of 2.1 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the third quarter of 2012. This is an increase of 14 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter of 2011. In the same period, the average price per cubic metre of timber fell from NOK 358 to NOK 315.

The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 670 million in the third quarter of 2012; an increase of less than 1 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter of 2011. The average price of saw logs decreased by NOK 29, while pulpwood decreased by NOK 49 from the third quarter of 2011 to the third quarter of 2012.

Increased roundwood sales

In total, the forest owners sold 260 000 cubic metres more timber compared with the corresponding quarter of 2011. Sale of pulp wood increased considerably more than saw logs.
