Stable timber cuts and falling prices

A total of 2.4 million cubic metres of timber were cut for sale in the first quarter of 2012. This is the same as in the corresponding quarter of 2011.

The aggregated gross value of roundwood sold to the manufacturing industry was NOK 795 million in the first quarter of 2012; the same as in the corresponding quarter in 2011. According to preliminary calculations, the forest owners obtained NOK 335 per cubic metre; a decrease of NOK 34 compared with the first quarter of 2011. The average price per cubic metre of pulpwood decreased by NOK 26 from the first quarter of 2011 to the first quarter of 2012, and the average price of saw logs decreased by NOK 47 in the same period.
