Waste large contributor to district heating

The net production of district heating in 2004 came to 2 529 GWh - 8.7 per cent higher than in 2003. Waste contributed to 45.2 per cent of the production. The consumption of district heating was 2 319 GWh last year, and the service industry consumed more than two thirds of the total.

Higher consumption of district heating

The gross production of hot water and steam amounted to 3 056 GWh. Of the total production 112 GWh was delivered for production of electricity and 415 was heat not distributed. The net production of district heating in 2004 came to 2 529 GWh. 209 GWh of this was lost in the distribution net and 2 319 GWh was delivered to consumers. This is 8.2 per cent higher than in 2003.

Total investments in district heating in 2004 came to NOK 465 million. The price of district heating fell from 41.8 øre/kWh in 2003 to 41.2 øre/kWh in 2004, excluding value added tax. Increased consumption resulted in a 6.7 per cent increase in income from sales to NOK 957 million.
