Decrease in transport costs

The total cost index for road goods transport decreased by 0.2 per cent from February to March 2013. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 1.8 per cent.

The fuel index decreased by 1.0 per cent during the last month. From March 2012 to March 2013 this sub-index decreased by 3.4 per cent.

Increase in repair and service costs

The sub-index for repair and service costs increased by 0.4 per cent during the last month. Over the last 12 months this sub-index has increased by 3.9 per cent.

Unchanged capital costs

The capital cost index showed an increase for some vehicle groups, while other groups had a slight decline. The vehicle group timber transport showed the largest increase compared to February 2013 by 0.6 per cent, while long-haul transport declined by 0.1 per cent. From March 2012 to March 2013 the capital cost index decreased by 1.6 per cent.
