Cheaper fuel - but other costs increase
Diesel prices fell by 2.5 per cent from April to May 2011, but at the same time, costs for tyres, wages and social costs, capital and management went up.
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.1 per cent last month. In the last twelve months, total costs increased by 5.3 per cent.
Decline in fuel prices
The fuel index decreased by 2.5 per cent during the last month. From May 2010 to May 2011, this sub-index increased by 10.8 per cent.
Higher prices for tyres
The tyre index rose by 3.1 per cent from April to May due to price adjustments by some suppliers. Over the last twelve months this sub-index has increased by 10.6 per cent.
Increased capital costs
From April to May 2011, the index for capital costs increased by 0.9 per cent. Over the last twelve months, this index has increased by 1.3 per cent.
Increase in wage index
The wage index increased by 0.9 per cent during the last month. Over the last twelve months this index has increased by 4.5 per cent.
Higher administrative costs
Administration costs increased by 0.7 per cent last month. Over the last twelve months this sub-index has increased by 3.6 per cent.
About the fuel indexThe fuel index is based on prices obtained from a selection of retailers located throughout Norway. Surveys show that the development in these prices is very similar to the development in the contract prices for fuel supplied by the major distributors. About the capital cost indexThe capital cost index consists of depreciation and amortisation, interest costs and annual fees. |
