Increase in diesel prices

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 1.0 per cent from December 2009 to January 2010. Over the last twelve months the total costs have increased by 1.8 per cent.

The fuel index increased by 4.3 per cent during the last month. From January 2009 to January 2010 this sub-index increased by 4.0 per cent.

The insurance cost index increased by 3.6 per cent from December 2009 to January 2010. During the last 12 months this index has increased by 7.7 per cent.

Increased ferry and road toll costs

The sub-index for ferry and road toll costs increased by 0.4 per cent during the last month. Over the last twelve months the sub-index for ferry and road toll costs has increased by 0.5 per cent.

Modest increase in administration costs

The administration costs increased by 0.3 per cent last month. Over the last twelve months this sub-index has increased 3.4 per cent.

Decreased tyre index

The tyre index decreased by 0.9 per cent last month. Over the last twelve months this sub-index has grown by 4.2 per cent.

Decreased capital costs

From December 2009 to January 2010 the index for capital costs decreased by 0.2 per cent. Over the last twelve months, this index (which is composed of depreciation and amortisation, interest costs and annual fees) has decreased by 8.5 per cent.

About the fuel index

The fuel index is based on prices obtained from a selection of retailers located throughout Norway. Surveys show that the development in these prices is very similar to the development in the contract prices for fuel supplied by the major distributors.
