Increase in transport costs

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.1 per cent from August to September 2009. Over the last twelve months the total costs have increased by 0.4 per cent.

Increased capital costs

From August to September 2009, the index for capital costs increased by 1.7 per cent. Over the last twelve months, this index (which is composed of depreciation and amortisation, interest costs and annual fees) has decreased by 4.3 per cent.

Insurance cost index increased

The insurance cost index increased by 1.4 per cent in the last month. During the last 12 months, this index increased by 7.6 per cent.

Lower prices on diesel

The fuel index decreased by 1.3 per cent during the last month. From September 2008 to September 2009, this sub-index decreased by 15.1 per cent.

Modest increase in administration costs

The administration costs increased by 0.1 per cent last month. Over the last twelve months, this sub-index increased 3.4 per cent.

About the fuel index

The fuel index is based on prices obtained from a selection of retailers located throughout Norway. Surveys show that the development in these prices is very similar to the development in the contract prices for fuel supplied by the major distributors.
