Increase in transport costs

The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 0.3 per cent from June to July 2009. Over the last twelve months the total costs have decreased by 1.8 per cent.

From June to July 2009, the index for capital costs increased by 2.2 per cent. Over the last twelve months this index, which is composed of depreciation and amortisation, interest costs and annual fees, has decreased by 6.7 per cent.

Lower prices on diesel

The fuel index decreased by 0.1 per cent during the last month. From July 2008 to July 2009, this sub-index has decreased by 21.4 per cent.

Modest increase in administration costs

The administration costs increased by 0.1 per cent last month. Over the last twelve months this sub-index has increased by 2.8 per cent.

About the fuel index

The fuel index is based on actual pump prices obtained from a selection of retailers located around Norway. Surveys show that the development in pump prices is very similar to the development in the contract prices for fuel supplied by the major distributors, although some discrepancies may occur in certain months.
