Increase in diesel prices
The total cost index for road goods transport increased by 1.8 per cent from April 2008 to May 2008 mainly due to higher diesel prices. Over the last 12 months the total costs have increased by 9.9 per cent.
The fuel index increased by 6.9 per cent during the last month. From May 2007 to May 2008 this sub-index has increased by 30.2 per cent.
In May the index for capital costs increased by 1.9 per cent, mainly due to increase in real interests rates. Over the last 12 months this index, which is composed by depreciation and amortization, interest costs and annual fees, has increased by 9.3 per cent.
The tire index increased by 0.5 per cent the last month. Over the last 12 months this sub-index grew by 2.6 per cent.
The other sub-indices show no or little changes over the last month.
