150 000 lorries crossed the border
Almost 150 000 lorries with cargo crossed the border in the 1st quarter 2001. This was a decrease of 0.7 per cent compared with the same quarter the last year. The growth in traffic through Svinesund increased by 2 per cent from the 1st quarter 2000 to the 1st quarter 2001.
Totally, about 73 000 lorries crossed the border at Svinesund in the 1st quarter 2001.
The total carriage of goods by lorries across the border was 2.4 million tons in the 1st quarter 2001. This is a decrease of 1 per cent since 1st quarter 2000. Each lorry carried in average 15.9 tons of goods.
44 per cent of the lorries crossing the border were Norwegian registered, while 37 per cent were Swedish registered. There were small changes in these shares compared to the 1st quarter 2000.
