No change in the HICP

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway remained unchanged from September to October 2014. Higher prices of clothing contributed to pulling the HICP up, but the effect was offset by lower prices of electricity.

The HICP for Norway was 118.8 (2005=100) in October 2014, compared to 116.6 the same month in the previous year. The year-to-year growth was 1.9 per cent in October, down 0.2 percentage points from September.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for September 2014 show that the HICP was 121.0 (2005=100) for both the EU and the EEA, while the HICP for the euro area was 118.1 (2005=100). The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for September was 0.4 per cent for the EU and the EEA. In the euro area, the preliminary year-to-year growth was 0.3 per cent in September. The year-to-year growth for October in the euro area is estimated at 0.4 per cent.
