HICP up 0.4 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.4 per cent from November to December 2012. Increased electricity prices contributed most to the rise, while lower prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages pulled the HICP in the opposite direction.

The HICP for Norway was 114.5 (2005=100) in December 2012, compared to 113.2 in December 2011. The year-to-year growth was 1.1 per cent in December, up 0.2 percentage points from November.

Harmonized index of consumer prices

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for November 2012 show that the HICP for the EU and EEA was 119.2, while the HICP for the euro area was 116.5. The preliminary year-to-year growth in the HICP for November was 2.4 per cent for the EU and 2.3 per cent for the EEA. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth was 2.2 per cent in November. The year-to-year growth for December 2012 in the euro area is estimated at 2.2 per cent.

Detailed figures for December will be published on Eurostat’s website on 16 January.
