HICP down 0.7 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway decreased by 0.7 per cent from July 2011 to August 2011. Lower prices of food and airfares contributed most to the fall.

The HICP for Norway was 112.1 (2005=100) in August 2011, compared to 110.7 in August 2010. The year-to-year growth in August was 1.3 per cent, down 0.2 percentage points from July.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for July 2011 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 114.9, while the HICP for the euro area was 112.4. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in July was 2.9 per cent for the EU and the EEA, and 2.5 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for August 2011 is estimated at 2.5 per cent.

Detailed figures for August will be published on Eurostat’s website on 15 September.
