HICP rose 0.6 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.6 per cent from March 2011 to April 2011. The prices of airline fares and books contributed most, while the prices for electricity and food decreased.

The HICP for Norway was 114.1 (2005=100) in April 2011, compared to 112.6 in April 2010. The year-to-year growth was 1.3 per cent, up 0.4 percentage points from March.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Preliminary data for March 2011 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 114.7, while the HICP for the euro area was 112.5. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in March was 3.1 per cent for both the EEA and the EU, and 2.7 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for April 2011 is estimated at 2.8 per cent.
