HICP rose 0.7 per cent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.7 per cent from August to September 2010. The main reason for this was higher prices on clothing.

The HICP for Norway was 111.5 (2005=100) in September 2010, compared to 110.0 in September 2009. The year-to-year growth was 1.4 per cent in September 2010, down 0.3 percentage point from August.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for August 2010 shows that the HICP for both the EU and the EEA was 111.9, while the HICP for the euro area was 109.9. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in August was 2.0 per cent for both the EEA and the EU, while it was 1.6 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for September 2010 is estimated at 1.8 per cent.
