HICP up 0.2 percent

The harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) for Norway increased by 0.2 per cent from March to April 2010. Prices on clothing and books increased the most, while prices on electricity and airfares fell.

The HICP for Norway was 112.6 (2005=100) in April 2010, compared to 108.9 in April 2009. The year-to-year growth was 3.4 per cent in April 2010, down 0.2 percentage points from March.

EU, EEA and the euro area

Provisional data for March 2010 shows that the HICP for the EU and the EEA was 111.1 and 111.2 respectively, while the HICP for the euro area was 109.4. The year-to-year growth in the HICP in March was 1.9 per cent for both the EEA and the EU while it was 1.4 per cent for the euro area. In the euro area, the year-to-year growth for April 2010 was estimated at 1.5 per cent.
