Most floor space for industrial purposes
During the first eight months of 2007, a total of 6.1 million square metres of utility floor space were started. This is a 13.5 per cent increase compared with the corresponding period in 2006.
Started floor space for industrial purposes has increased the most, from 2.1 millon square metres during the first eight months of 2006, to 2.6 million square metres in 2007. This is a 22.0 per cent growth. Most floor space for industrial purposes is started for wholesale and retail trade. A total of 604 200 square metres started for this purpose during the period from January to August, a 16.2 per cent growth from last year.
Increase in dwelling-starts
During the period from January to August, 20 678 dwellings-starts were registered, a 4.1 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period last year. Utility floor space started for dwellings increased by 7.1 per cent during the same period, to 2.6 million square metres.
Utility floor space started for holiday houses, residential garages and more amounted to 883 400 square metres during the first eight months of the year. This is an increase of 9.8 per cent compared with the same period last year.
