Rise in high skilled occupations

The increase in employment from 2007 to 2008 is largest among Professionals and Technicians and associate professionals, according to Statistics Norway’s Labour Force Survey.

From 2007 to 2008, total employment rose by 3.3 per cent. Employment among Professionals (major group 2) rose by 8.3 per cent, while employment among Technicians and associate professionals (major group 3) rose by 5.0 per cent.

Within these high skilled occupations, the largest increase in employment was for health and teaching professionals.

Full-time employed persons in skilled occupations

Of all employed females, 58 per cent work full-time. However, in the high skilled occupations nearly 80 per cent of the employed females work full-time (Professionals), while the percentage for Technicians etc. is 70. Among males, the percentage is almost 90 for these occupations.
