Average monthly earnings up NOK 1 100

Full-time employees in the health enterprises had average monthly earnings of NOK 43 300 as per 1 October 2013, excluding overtime pay. This is a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 100 or 2.6 per cent.

The majority of the employees in the health enterprises are nurses, physicians and specialist nurses. Approximately 85 per cent of the full-time employed nurses and specialist nurses are women, and about half of the full-time employed physicians are women.

Physicians

Full-time employed physicians had average monthly earnings of NOK 65 600, which corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 1.1 per cent.

Nurses and specialist nurses

Full-time employed nurses had average monthly earnings of NOK 37 000. This represents an increase of NOK 1 100 or 3.1 per cent.

Average monthly earnings for full-time employed specialist nurses were NOK 42 500, up 2.4 per cent.

The statistics are based on information from state hospitals in all health regions, and include 67 847 full-time employees and 57 214 part-time employees.

Monthly earnings include salary according to scale and fixed and variable additional allowances. Payment for overtime work is not included.
