Wage increase of NOK 900

Average monthly earnings for full-time employees in electricity supply were NOK 46 900 as of October 2012. This was a year-on-year increase of NOK 900, or 2 per cent.

About one in five who work in electricity supply are electrical line installers, i.e. skilled workers who build and maintain power lines and power plants. Their average monthly earnings were NOK 37 500, up 2.2 per cent. Electrical engineering technicians are university college graduates and constitute a sizeable proportion of the workforce in electricity supply. Earnings for this group were NOK 48 400, which was an increase of NOK 1 300.

Professionals and managers

Most of the professionals in this industry are civil engineers, and these earned NOK 56 500 in 2012, which was an increase of NOK 300. Managers had average earnings of NOK 73 600.

The statistics are based on a sample of firms in the main industry of electricity supply, with a total of 10 090 full-time employees and 754 part-time employees. According to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments, the statistics cover approximately 14 600 employees as of October 2012.
