Full-time employees by occupational group. NOK and percentage change.

Wage levels are measured on 1 October every year, irrespective of when the results of the wage settlements are available. The strike in the electricity supply sector in 2006 may have resulted in wages being adjusted in late autumn 2006, and thus not included in the wage statistics for that year. This resulted in a relatively low wage increase in 2006, and a correspondingly strong increase in the 2007 statistics.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 9 612 full-time employees in electricity supply. Preliminary figures from the national accounts show that that the statistics cover 11 700 employees. ‘Monthly earnings’ is the main term in the wage statistics, and covers basic salary, variable additional allowances, and bonuses. Overtime pay is not included in monthly earnings. Annual earnings are estimated based on wage statistics for two years, information from the wage settlements, and from the quarterly index of earnings. The figures for 2006 are permanent, but the figures for 2007 are preliminary until the wage statistics for 2008 are published. Growth in annual earnings will usually differ from growth in monthly earnings. This is because the monthly earnings are compared on 1 October, whereas the annual earnings cover the calendar year.
