Monthly earnings in electricity supply up NOK 1 900

Full-time employees in electricity supply had average monthly earnings of NOK 29 900 per 1 October 2003. This was an increase of NOK 1 900 or 6.8 per cent from the same time 2002.

Monthly earnings include basic paid salary and the mean of additional allowances from January through September. Payment for overtime is not included.

Occupational groups

Craft workers make out the largest occupational group in electricity supply, and these had average monthly earnings of NOK 25 200. This was an increase of NOK 1 100 or 4.5 per cent from the previous year. Full-time working technicians and associated professionals had NOK 30 700 - a NOK 1 900 or 6.7 per cent increase. In comparison, professionals had average monthly earnings of NOK 37 100, which was up NOK 2 300 or 6.6 per cent.

Operators had average monthly earnings of NOK 25 400, an increase of NOK 1 200 or 4.9 per cent.

In comparison, clerks received NOK 24 300 on the average, which was a NOK 900 or 3.8 per cent increase.

Senior officials and managers had NOK 48 000 on the average. They had the highest increase in monthly earnings of all occupational groups with 10.1 per cent up from 2002.

Annual earnings

The estimated annual earnings are based on the assumption that salaries are paid for 12 months of the year and holiday pay supplements are thus not included.

Annual earnings include basic paid wages and salaries, variable additional allowances, bonuses and commissions and the like. Overtime pay and other benefits are not included.

The statistics are based on information from the wages settlement, the quarterly wages index and the annual wage statistics at 1 October from two years back.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 10 176 full-time employees. According to preliminary figures from the National Accounts for the third quarter 2003, the statistics cover approximately 15 200 employees in the electricity supply sector.
