Monthly earnings increased by 8.1 per cent

Average monthly earnings for all employees in municipalities and county municipalities, overtime not included, were NOK 30 100 in the third quarter of 2008. This is a year-on-year increase of NOK 2 300, or 8.1 per cent.

Monthly earnings of full-time employees rose by 7.7 per cent, to NOK 30 900, from the third quarter of 2007 to the third quarter of 2008. In contrast, the monthly earnings of the part-time employees increased by 8.6 per cent, to NOK 29 200, in the same period.

Full-time employees with tertial education up to 4 years had an average monthly earning of NOK 33 300, a 7.5 per cent increase from 2007. Full-time employees with tertial education of more than 4 years had a monthly earning of NOK 40 200, an increase by 7.2 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics include 315 069 employees in municipalities and county municipalities per 1. December 2008. The statistics are based on data collected by the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS). Employees in power production, power supply and teaching personnel in schools are not included in the statistical basis.
