Information and communication includes various divisions that produce and disseminate information service activities. The highest earnings are found in the ICT services, at NOK 50 000. Employees in radio and television had monthly earnings of NOK 40 300, and employees in publishing industries had monthly earnings of NOK 44 500.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises which cover a total of 47 804 full-time employees and 3 668 part-time employees. According to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments as per September 2010, real estate activities comprise in total 77 200 employees.

The term average monthly earnings is the main term in Statistics Norway's wage statistics. Monthly earnings cover basic salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses. Payment for overtime work is not included but is presented in the statistics separately.

The method for measuring increases in monthly earnings differs somewhat from that of calculating increases in annual earnings. Monthly earnings are compared at a specific date each year, while changes in annual earnings are measured from one calendar year to the next. Estimated annual earnings for the current year are preliminary until wage statistics for the following year have been compiled.
