Monthly earnings up NOK 1 700 in fish farming

Average monthly earnings, excluding overtime pay, of full-time employees in fish farming amounted to NOK 37 700 as per 1 October 2011. This was a year-on-year increase of 4.7 per cent or NOK 1 700.

Fish farmers themselves make up the majority of the employees in fish farming. Their average monthly earnings, excluding overtime pay, were NOK 33 600 in 2011. This corresponds to a year-on-year increase of NOK 1 500 or 4.7 per cent. Average monthly earnings of senior officials and managers were NOK 57 200, which gives a year-on-year growth of NOK 2 400 or 4.4 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 3 236 full-time employees and 443 part-time employees. According to the Norwegian Central Register of Enterprises and Establishments as per October 2011, the statistics cover 5 900 employees.

Structural changes

Structural changes, as well as results from the wage negotiations, will influence the recorded changes in earnings. Among other factors, this includes changes in the employment pattern, working time and profession. The development of average earnings is also influenced by the wage increase and the number of employees who join and leave the workforce in the particular group of industry or who switch to other industries.
