Monthly earnings up NOK 2 300

Full-time employees in fish farming received average monthly earnings of NOK 29 600 per 1 October 2006. This was an increase of NOK 2 300 or 8.2 per cent from 1 October 2005.

Fish farming includes production of fish, shellfish, mussels and the like. The industry experienced a large growth in exports during 2006, and a considerable part of the wage increase is due to bonus payments.

Fish farmers are the dominating occupational group in the industry. Their average monthly earnings were NOK 27 500, a growth of NOK 2 300 or 8.9 per cent from 2005. Leaders received monthly earnings of NOK 44 400, an increase of NOK 3 500 or 8.6 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 1 661 full-time employees.

According to preliminary figures from the National Accounts for the third quarter 2006 the statistics cover about 3 700 employees.
