Monthly earnings up NOK 1 200

Full-time employees in fish farming received average monthly earnings of NOK 27 300 per 1 October 2005. This was an increase of NOK 1 200 or 4.6 per cent from 1 October 2004.

The fish farmers themselves make the majority of the employees. Their average monthly earnings were NOK 25 300, a growth of NOK 1 200 or 5.2 per cent from 2004. Leaders received monthly earnings of NOK 40 900, an increase of 1 700 or 4.3 per cent.

About the statistical basis

The statistics are based on a sample of enterprises with 1 687 full-time employees.

According to preliminary figures from the National Accounts for the third quarter 2005 the statistics cover about 2 800 employees.

Fish farming includes production of fish, shellfish, mussels and the like. Also included are hatcheries, with production of spawn and fry.

Monthly earnings include basic paid salaries, variable additional allowances and bonuses, commissions and the like. Overtime pay and other benefits are not included.
