Monthly earnings up NOK 1 500 in computer activities

Full-time employees in real estate and business activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 35 800 per 1 September 2006, an increase of NOK 1 300 or 3.6 per cent from 2005. Employees in computer activities had average monthly earnings of NOK 40 800.This was an increase of NOK 1 500, or 3.9 per cent.

A large part of the employees in computer activities have a university degree and a corresponding high wage level. Employees with a tertial education of more than 4 years had average monthly earnings of NOK 46 200, whereas for employees with a tertial education of less than 4 years monthly earnings were NOK 41 700. This corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 200 and NOK 1 500, respectively, from the previous year.

Real estate and business activities include real estate activities, renting activities, computer activities, research, and other business activities. Other business activities include legal activities, architectural and engineering activities, advertising, security activities and industrial cleaning.

Employees in legal activities and auditing had average monthly earnings of NOK 37 400, which corresponds to an increase of NOK 1 400 or 4 per cent. Senior officials and managers had monthly earnings of NOK 51 900 and professionals had monthly earnings of NOK 45 800. This was to an increase of 6.6 and 2.6 per cent, respectively, from 2005.

Industrial cleaning and security activities

In industrial cleaning full-time employees had monthly earnings of NOK 24 800. For employees in security activities average monthly earnings were NOK 22 200.

About the statistical basis

These statistics are based on information from a sample of enterprises in the section Real estate and business activities. According to preliminary figures from the National Accounts for third quarter of 2006, the statistics cover about 233 600 wage earners.
