Solid growth in transportation and storage

The local kind-of-activity units (Local KAUs) in transportation and storage saw value added increase by 5.5 per cent from 2010 to 2011. At NOK 117.3 billion, the sector has reached the pre-financial crisis level.

Local KAUs in transportation and storage had a turnover of NOK 321 billion, an increase of 5.5 per cent compared to the previous year.

Substantial growth in air transport

The local KAUs in air transport had a total value added of NOK 8.5 billion in 2011, 20 per cent above that of 2010. The production value increased by 10.6 per cent, to NOK 26.2 billion. In 2011, gross investments were at NOK 2.5 billon, compared with NOK 1.9 billion in 2010.

Slight increase for sea and costal transport

The industry group sea and costal freight transport had a production value of NOK 111 billion in 2011, 4.4 per cent more than the year before. Value added increased by 3.4 per cent in the same period.

Value added for sea and costal passenger transport decreased by 12 per cent.

Substantial growth for land transport

The local KAUs in the industry division of land transport had their value added increase to NOK 34.1 billion, 7.2 per cent above that of 2010. Production value increased from NOK 66.5 billion in 2010 to NOK 70 billion in 2011. Gross investments increased by 4.4 per cent in the same period and were NOK 4.3 billion in 2011.

Increased value added for warehousing and support activities

The local KAUs in the division warehousing and support activities had a total value added of NOK 29.3 billion in 2011; a 9 per cent increase compared with the previous year.
