Increase in Norwegian non-financial enterprises’ total assets abroad

Norwegian non-financial enterprises’ total assets abroad increased by 3.3 per cent from 2012 to 2013. At the end of 2013, the value of the assets was NOK 1 606 billion.

While the current assets were almost unchanged during last year, the value of the fixed assets abroad increased 4.6 per cent due to growth in ‘investment in subsidiaries, other group companies or associated companies abroad’ and ‘loans to group companies’.

Considerable growth in Europe

In Europe, the total assets rose by 8.1 per cent or NOK 78 billion kroner. Despite a 4.5 per cent drop from last year, Belgium had the largest share of Norwegian enterprises’ assets abroad. The assets in Sweden, Great Britain and the Netherlands all increased by more than 10 per cent compared to 2012.

Asia, Africa and South America also had an increase in the value of total assets, while the value of assets in North and Central America and Oceania went down.

Liabilities abroad increase

The total liabilities abroad went up 4.4 per cent during 2013, and amounted to NOK 1 310 billion at the end of 2013.
