Foundations’ assets increased

Non-financial foundations’ assets rose by over NOK 10 billion or 7 per cent to NOK 157 billion from 2014 to 2015.

The foundations financed 79 per cent of the assets in 2015 by equity. 

Non-profit foundations made up 33 per cent of the foundations in 2015. The non-profit foundations had approximately NOK 36 billion in 2015, up 3 per cent from the previous year. 

The operating expenses, which included disbursement of funds, amounted to about NOK 43 billion in 2015. This was almost 7 per cent more than in 2014. The operating expenses for non-profit foundations constituted NOK 27 billion or 64 per cent of the foundations’ total operating expenses.

A new institutional sector classification was introduced as from fiscal year 2013, with the result that the figures are not entirely comparable with the ones for the previous years.
