14 024 new enterprises

14 024 new enterprises were registered in Norway during the first quarter of 2008. This is a decrease of 451 enterprises, or 3.1 per cent, compared with the same period in 2007.

Almost 92 per cent of new enterprises are newly established enterprises, whereas the remaining 8 per cent are takeovers.

Figures on new enterprises by economic activity code, legal form, county and municipality are available in StatBank Norway. The stock of enterprises by 1 January 2001-2007 and enterprise deaths in 2001-2006 are also available.
