9 370 new enterprises

9,370 new enterprises were registered during the second quarter of 2003 - a reduction of 2,185 compared with the first quarter of 2003. These figures include all enterprises except public administration, agriculture, forestry and fishing.

Statistics from the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises of Statistics Norway substantiate this development.

Decrease in the number of new enterprises compared to the 2n d quarter of 2002

1,301 fewer new enterprises were registered in the second quarter of 2003 compared with the same period last year. Compared with the first quarter in 2003 the decrease is even larger.

About 92 per cent of the enterprises registered in the period are new enterprises, i.e. the enterprise is not registered to take over an existing enterprise.
