11 555 new enterprises

11 555 new enterprises were registered during the first quarter 2003. This is an increase of 920 compared with the last quarter 2002. These figures include all enterprises except public administration, agriculture, forestry and fishing.

Statistics from the Central Register of Establishments and Enterprises of Statistics Norway substantiate this development.

No increase compared to 1st quarter in 2002

The number of new enterprises is approximately the same as in the first quarter in 2002, but a slight increase is recorded compared with the last quarter in 2002. About 91 per cent of the new enterprises were new established enterprises. This means that the enterprise is not registered to take over an existing establishment.
