32 per cent of enterprises survived 5 years

A total of 32 per cent of the newly established enterprises in 2002 were still active in 2007. The average number of persons employed in the surviving enterprises increased by a factor of four.

Newly established enterprises in 2002 survived in 2003-2007 by legal form

The highest survival rates in 2007 of newly established enterprises in 2002 were found among the limited liability companies (54 per cent survived) as compared to sole proprietorships (24 per cent survived). The size of the enterprises in 2002 also influenced the rate of survival. Sixty-seven per cent of the enterprises with five or more persons employed in 2002 survived in 2007, compared to only 31 per cent for enterprises with less than five persons employed.

The survival rates of newly established enterprises in 2003-2006 are at the same level as the corresponding survival rates of newly established enterprises in 2002.

These figures include all enterprises except agriculture, forestry, fishing and central government.
