Compared to the previous year, the total number of tuition periods also fell by 8 per cent in 2008.

Women in majority

Women made up 55 per cent of all course completions. Female participants were in the majority in most main subjects. Courses with high female percentages were aesthetic subjects and handicraft (97 per cent), health, social and sports (94 per cent), social sciences (76 per cent) and business and ICT (76 per cent).

9 200 were given the offer of a public exam

Fifty-nine per cent of all completed courses were classified as upper secondary level, whereas 27 per cent were at university and college level. Fourteen percent of all courses did not specify any level.

This statistics detail who were given the option of taking a public exam, but not how many accepted the offer or any results from the exam. In all there were 9 200 courses, or 46 per cent of all courses with the option of taking a public exam.
