42 per cent of goods cross border in Norwegian lorries

In the 2nd quarter of 2014, 1.2 per cent fewer tonnes of goods were transported across the border by road compared with the same quarter last year. In total, lorries shipped 2.1 million tonnes of goods into Norway and 1.6 million out of Norway. The Norwegian lorries’ share of border transport is 41.5 per cent of the total border transport; about the same as in the 2nd quarter in 2013.

In total, almost 3.7 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorry across the border by road in the 2nd quarter of 2014.

While the Norwegian registered lorries’ share of border transport was virtually unchanged compared to the 2nd quarter of 2013, Polish and Baltic lorries continued to capture market shares. In the 2nd quarter, goods transported in and out of the country made up 12.9 per cent; 1.2 percentage points more than in the 2nd quarter of 2013.
