Border transport significantly increased

Norwegian and foreign lorries transported 3.6 million tonnes of goods across the border in the first quarter of 2014. This is 10.6 per cent more than in the corresponding quarter last year.

The Norwegian lorries’ market share of tonnage carried to and from Norway increased from 41.7 per cent in the first quarter of 2013 to 43.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2014. The market share of exports for Norwegian lorries is 66.9 per cent, and for imports is 23.5 per cent of the total tonnage carried.

The market share for Swedish-registered lorries fell 2.4 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2013. Polish and Baltic lorries transported separately 6.3 per cent of the goods; a slight increase from the same quarter the year before.
