Less transport by Norwegian and Polish lorries
The road transport of goods across the Norwegian border was up 4 per cent in the first quarter of 2011 compared with the corresponding quarter of 2010. Of the biggest transport nationalities, only the Norwegian and the Polish lorries showed a downturn.
A total of 2.9 million tonnes of goods were transported by lorry in and out of Norway during the first quarter of 2011. This is almost 114 000 tonnes, or 4 per cent, more than during the first quarter of 2010. The Baltic countries increased their transport to and from Norway by 18.8 per cent, and Denmark by 17 per cent. Norwegian lorries transported 2.9 per cent less than in the corresponding quarter last year, while Polish lorries transported 1.5 per cent less.
The Norwegian lorries’ share of the border transport was 42.2 per cent. This is 3 percentage points less than in the first quarter of 2010.
These figures cover goods transported by lorries passing the national border by road. Import and export by lorry by ferry is not included. |
