Carriage of goods by lorry, Q2 2002

The total amount of goods transported across the border was over 2.5 million tonnes, of which 1.5 million tonnes were imported and 1 million tonnes were exported.

Each lorry carried an average of 15.8 tonnes of goods across the border in the second quarter of 2002, the same average as in 2001.

Mostly Norwegian lorries

Lorries registered in Norway held a share of 43 per cent of the lorries crossing the border.Lorries registered in Sweden held a share of 38 per cent in the second quarter, the same as in 2001. Lorries registered in Denmark and Finland had shares of 7.5 and 5.4 per cent of the border crossings, respectively, while lorries registered in other countries had a share of 6.3 per cent.

Svinesund on top

47 per cent of the lorries carrying goods in and out of Norway passed through Svinesund custom office. Hån/Ørje custom office had a share of 19.2 per cent, Eda had 11.5 per cent and Storlien had a share of 6.2 per cent.
