Prices of management consulting levels out

Compared with the previous year, the prices of business and management consulting activities increased with 3.5 per cent through 2008. The price growth was gradually declining through the year and there was no change in the prices from the 3r d to the 4t h quarter last year.

In the first half of 2008 the price growth in business and management consulting activities was 4.5 per cent compared with the same period in 2007. In the second half the growth was weaker, and in the 4t h quarter the increase was under 2 per cent compared with corresponding quarter in 2007.

Strong price growth for accounting services

Between 2007 and 2008 the prices of accounting services and auditing activities rose by 6.6 per cent. In the 4t h quarter of 2008 the price growth was strongest for the accounting and book-keeping services, with an increase of 7.8 per cent compared with same quarter in 2007. For the auditing activities the price growth was 6.4 per cent in the same period.

1  The figures for 2006 are based on estimation from the annual growth in monthly earnings in the industrial classification of legal, accounting, book-keeping and auditing activities.

Important announcement: New classification being implemented shortly

As form the 1st quarter of 2009, a new version of Norwegian industry classification (SIC2007) will be used. The classification is in accordance with the EC’s new NACE rev.2 classification. This enables comparability across borders. The price index for business and management consulting services, accounting and book-keeping services and auditing activities will from now on be published together with all the price indices in the group of business activities, which consists of sections for “Professional, Scientific and Technical activities” and “Administrative and Support service activities”.
