Slight decrease in sea fishing of salmon

According to preliminary figures, the total catch of wild salmon and sea trout in the Norwegian fjords amounted to 475 tonnes in 2005.

The average weight was 4.1 kilo in 2005, the same as the year before. 25 per cent of the salmon caught weighed below 3 kilos, 43 per cent between 3-7 kilos and 32 per cent over 7 kilos.

Finnmark is the most important county for sea catches of salmon, with a total catch of 170 tonnes in 2005. There has been a decrease in most of the counties, while the catches in Finnmark, Troms, Rogaland, Østfold and Vest-Agder increased.
