Increase in wages and remuneration

Preliminary figures from the tax assessment show that total wages and remuneration paid by Norwegian employers increased by 5.7 per cent from 2012 to 2013, and amounted to NOK 1 108 billion. Of this, NOK 1 079 billion went to residents in Norway aged 17 years and older, which is an increase of NOK 55 billion, or 5.4 per cent, from 2012.

Wages and remuneration for residents aged 17 and over averaged NOK 378 600 in 2013. This is an increase of 4.1 per cent from the previous year.

Old-age pension

A total of 830 000 persons received an old-age pension in 2013. Of these, 760 000 persons were resident in Norway, and these had a total pension of NOK 157 billion. This was an increase in payments of 9.5 per cent from 2012, and the number of recipients went up by 39 000. Old-age pension payments to persons aged 62 to 66 years increased by 30 per cent from 2012, or about NOK 3 billion.

Fewer with work-assessment allowance and unemployment benefit

There were fewer recipients of work-assessment allowance and unemployment benefit in 2013 than in 2012. About 5 400 fewer persons received a work-assessment allowance while unemployed, however the total payments grew by NOK 0.4 billion. A total of 209 000 persons received unemployment benefit in 2013, which was 6 300 fewer than in 2012.
