Abstract

This paper investigates the relation between graduate mobility and overeducation, with a particular reference to interregional mobility as a key factor explaining the likelihood of Danish university graduates being or not being overeducated in their first job after college. Relying on Danish register data, we track the interregional mobility patterns of recent graduates. Results show a positive impact of post-college mobility in reducing overeducation. Simultaneously, the characteristics of the specific labor markets of the region of origin, region of study, and the region of destination appear important predictors for estimating the likelihood of graduates being or not being overeducated
