Higher electricity prices

The price of electricity faced by households was 31.2 per cent higher in the middle of the first quarter of 2009 than twelve months earlier. Services and the manufacturing industry have also seen a rise in electricity prices in the same period.

The average price of electric energy for households was 33.1 øre per kilowatt hour (kWh), excluding grid rent and taxes, in the middle of the second quarter of 2009. This is 31.2 per cent higher than one year ago.

The average price of electric energy for the service industry was 32.7 øre per kWh in the middle of the second quarter (week 19), excluding taxes and grid rent. This is 44.2 per cent more than one year ago.

For the manufacturing industry except energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electricity was 28.9 øre per kWh. This is 23.9 per cent higher than one year ago. For energy-intensive manufacturing and the pulp and paper industry, the average price of electric energy was 21.2 øre per kWh excluding taxes and grid rent. This is 3.2 per cent higher than one year ago.

The measuring period for the second quarter of 2009 was week 19. The average elspot price for the entire quarter was a few øre per kWh higher than the elspot price in the measuring period.
